The official first day of spring is March 20th, which will be here sooner than you think! As the temperatures finally begin to rise, even if it is just ever so slightly, we are excited to welcome the start of longer days and a much brighter sun. With that boost of invigorating energy, let’s take a look at some fresh new trends for spring to inspire your next reno, creating the best living conditions for your loved ones and yourself.

One trend coincidentally making an impression this season is the use of brown in interior design. Perfect timing if you ask me, as springtime also signifies that Easter is abound, filled with bunnies and, yup, you guessed it…chocolates! The various tones of chocolate are rich yet neutral in color. Able to affect our psyche, the tone’s earthly qualities add a calming attribute and when done correctly, also adds a timeless elegance. Due to the pandemic, people are looking to move away from the bland whites and minimalist designs and this color allows you to do just that. Its flexibility allows you to beautifully integrate it into various décor styles.

This time of year symbolizes growth and rebirth, so what better trend to incorporate than the use of nature-inspired surfaces and objects? Okay, so this trend is not necessarily new, but it is being revitalized for today’s home living. Gone are the days of all white décor and stark minimalism. In fact, personable décor pieces that really add character are making their way back into interior design to create comfortable living spaces. Organic shapes, foliage, and earthy colors are a few ways of incorporating this trend.

Looking back to childhood days, I remember a phrase that was constantly mentioned. “See, see, no touch!” However, if the past two years have taught us anything, the importance of physical touch has truly shone through. Being stifled from our natural sense of touch in recent years, society is craving the inclusion of various textures in a room environment. More and more designers are adding tactile textiles & textures into a space to create more dynamic surroundings that feed that need. Not only does it trigger a sense of comfort, but it also adds a euphoric level of design.

Lastly, we have seen a large shift in prioritizing comfort and quality. As people have experienced the importance of creating a stable space indoors that is both purposeful and comfortable, society is looking for quality items that will last through normal wear and tear. Leather is a great example of this, embodying comfort and quality. But why don’t we take it a step further and make it friendly by incorporating vegan leather? Why vegan leather you ask? Well, first and foremost, it’s infinitely better for animals! Second, the production of vegan leather produces less carbon dioxide emissions and uses fewer toxic chemicals. The benefits don’t stop there as it is also extremely durable, offers a wider aesthetic scope and is cost-effective. Based on these benefits, it seems like the clear choice.
