Details in Design | Athena
Details in Design by Eurofase is a continuing conversation shaped by the materials and decisions that define our collections. Rooted in the Eurofase catalog, these discussions look beyond appearance and specification to consider how light settles into a space and how thoughtful choices create lasting presence.
Each feature returns to the same touchpoints: material, finish, and the way illumination behaves across a surface. In the weeks ahead, we will keep coming back to the palette that anchors the 2026 collection, including glass, alabaster, marble stone, and travertine stone, alongside finishes such as polished nickel, antique brass, weathered brass, chrome, black, gold, and harlow bronze.
Light does more than reveal a space. It sets a tone, creates anticipation, and shapes how we experience the materials around us. The 2026 Eurofase collection begins with this belief, guided by the way light settles into stone, moves through glass, and reflects across metal, giving every surface its own sense of character.
This collection leans into texture, quiet detail, and considered design. Travertine carries its natural variation with ease. Alabaster softens the atmosphere with a gentle glow. Hand-crafted glass responds to illumination with subtle shifts that feel almost alive. Paired with warm finishes and refined silhouettes, these materials create designs that feel composed, grounded, and unmistakably intentional.
Across the collection, light is approached as a sensory element rather than a technical one. It can anchor a room or fade into the background, always working in harmony with its environment, allowing atmosphere and material to support one another with calm clarity.
This week, we bring that design-first approach into focus through Athena.
Design Focus
The Idea
Athena is motion and life captured mid-air. The family draws from biophilic design and modern contemporary aesthetics, blurring the line between nature and structure. Its arms extend outward like plant stems reaching toward sunlight. Even in stillness, there is a sense of movement, as if it might subtly shift when you look away.

Material
Glass is essential to the experience of Athena. Each arm ends in a glowing white sphere that appears to hover at the edge of the structure. Steel provides balance and strength, but the glass is what gives Athena its softness and presence, allowing it to feel light, almost weightless, rather than constructed.

Purpose
Light in the Room
Opal etched glass diffuses the light into a calm, enveloping glow. Illumination feels contained within each sphere rather than projected outward, creating warmth and ease. The light becomes part of the environment, shaping atmosphere without demanding attention.

Materiality
Refinement
The longest refinement was finding the balance between movement and control. The arms needed to feel fluid and organic without becoming chaotic. Small adjustments changed the rhythm of the piece, and the goal was always restraint, ensuring the final result felt effortless, even when engineered with precision.

Application
Where It Belongs
Athena is designed to anchor a space. It works naturally in gallery-like foyers and above dining tables, where it can define the room without overpowering it. It becomes a focal point through presence rather than scale alone.

Craft
The Detail
The individual placement of each globe is critical. Nothing is rigidly aligned. That subtle variation is intentional and gives the collection its sense of life, preventing it from feeling overly structured.

Ambience
The Feeling
Athena is designed to be more than illumination. It gives a room identity. The atmosphere it creates is calm, expressive, and quietly alive. Athena reflects a belief that lighting should contribute more than brightness. It should shape atmosphere, offer presence without excess, and remain relevant long after the first impression. Through careful material choices and restrained decisions, Athena becomes part of the space it inhabits, leaving behind a feeling rather than a statement.

Available in Matte Black and Antique Gold. Athena is offered as an integrated LED semi-flush mount and an integrated LED chandelier.
